It’s hard to find someone connected to Terry McAuliffe who isn’t involved in some sort of scandal.
Yesterday, the Washington Post reported that Minyon Moore, “a long time adviser to Hillary Rodham Clinton personally sought and secured the funding for what prosecutors say was an illegal shadow operation to boost Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid.”
Terry McAuliffe was the chairman of Clinton’s 2008 White House bid.
The filings were made resultant to a plea deal struck by Jeffrey Thompson, who plead guilty to conspiracy in an effort to raise “off the books money” for the 2008 Clinton campaign.
Thompson donated $2,500 McAuliffe’s 2009 campaign — a donation that McAuliffe refused to return during the 2013 campaign. Moore also donated to McAuliffe’s 2013 campaign, giving $1,500.
Terry McAuliffe describes her in his book, “What A Party,” on page 273:
RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement:
“When Terry McAuliffe was first approached about returning these donations in 2013, he refused to answer questions, and instead attacked his Republican opponent for trying to create a ‘distraction.'”
“Now, Terry McAuliffe has no Republican opponent, and he has no excuse. Terry McAuliffe should return these donations immediately. Virginians already have more than enough reasons to be concerned about this governor’s ethics habits. Failing to return these donations would simply drive home the fact that impropriety is simply standard operating procedure for Terry McAuliffe.”
